Battlefield 3

I brought myself Battlefield 3 Limited Edition for Xbox360 the other day and must say that it’s a big change from playing the Call of Duty series. The multiplayer (as that is where most people will spend the most time) just seems more refined and rather then everyone just running around shooting each other, Battlefield has more skill and tactics involved to achieve the goal.

As for the campaign, I’ve only play a couple of hours and enjoying it.

New TV: Samsung UA46D6600

We finally got ourselves a new TV last week. Our existing Soniq 32″ cheapie has had a good life and served us well as our main TV.

I mainly wanted something bigger and with a better contrast ratio (The old 32″ only had 1000:1 which is pretty poor), and anything else was pretty much a bonus. Once I started looking around, I found that I may as well go with 3D as most come with it now, and most are smart TV that can access the internet. I had my eye set on a Samsung 46″ Series 7, but was told about the Series 6 6600 model which was almost identical to the Series 7, just that it looked different, and was cheaper. This is what I ended up getting. Apart for the different look was the 400mhz screen where as the Series 7 has a 600mhz.

Anyway, I love our new Samsung Series 6 46″ UA46D6600. Everything looks great and playing the Xbox on it is awesome!!

First month with iPad 2

Well, I finally got around to getting myself an iPad 2 one month ago, and I must say that it is the most useful thing ever. I ended up getting a White 64Gb wifi model. A bit overkill on the storage, but my wife and I thought it would be great for putting movies on it for when we go on road trips.

When the first iPad was released back in 2010 I found it hard to find a use for it, but since then the app store has grown, and more and more developers are finding great ways to utilise the device.

The major winning factor for me is it’s size, weight, and it’s always on. This out performs a laptop/notebook that I would have to carry around with me to sites to perform routine maintenance, but would be time consuming waiting for it to power on, find a power outlet if needed and so on. With the iPad I can usually have the task done before the notebook has even finished loading the desktop.

There are still a few things that the iPad 2 cannot do and a notebook would still be required, but it is a great extension/companion to what I already have.

Steve Jobs resigns as CEO from Apple

Quote

Here is the letter that Steve Jobs wrote to the board of directors that he is resigning as CEO of Apple.

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve
